Economic
The economy in the Avalon Gateway Region is becoming more and more diverse. The fishery, marine and agriculture industries are still thriving and the tourism industry has been growing for decades, but new and exciting projects are underway that will change the employment demographic in this area. The Vale Inco Hydromet Plant that is under construction in Long Harbour will not only bring new jobs and new people to the area, it will create many spin-off business opportunities for new and existing companies. The Avalon Gateway Regional Economic Development Board recognizes the need for partnerships between individuals, groups and organizations to stimulate and promote economic development and activity in Zone 18.
Our Goal
Support existing and develop new partnerships and activities among local groups and organizations to foster cooperative planning and implementation initiatives that advance and support an economic and entrepreneurial environment.
