Community

The Avalon Gateway region is a collection of twenty-four communities outlining the east shores of Placentia Bay and the west and north shores of St. Mary’s Bay.  Ten communities are incorporated municipalities and six communities are served by four Local Service Districts (LSDs).

Of the twenty four communities, Placentia is the largest with a population of approximately 4300 or 60% of the Zone’s population.  The next three largest communities have a population of approximately 500.  The Avalon Gateway region has a considerable number of volunteer groups and associations.  They play a critical role in efforts related to community and economic development.  Below are just a few of the organizations and groups that serve the area.  If you have a website that would be of benefit to the communities of the region, please contact Avalon Gateway to have your site added to this page.
